A very sad morning

Last night was when I realized something was very wrong.

Two nights ago my daughter told me that one of the pups had fallen out of the box onto the tile fall.  We had heard some crying and she was the first to investigate.  She put the pup back in with Chica and then we all went to bed thinking nothing of it.

That night she woke me up two times crying.  I put her on a nipple and then returned to bed.  One time I let Chica out to go to the bathroom as well.  Everything seemed fine.  The next day we were in and out, but every time I looked in on them they seemed okay.

Then last night both I was out watering in the garden, when I came in both my girls were visibly upset.  They told me how she was crying and crying.  I went in and started working.  Last night I phoned two breeders to see what we could figure out.  What could be wrong? Ana helped me figure out the rest of the puzzle this morning.

I had cut a hole in the side of the box for Chica to get in and out.  She is a jumper.  She must have jumped out with the Mouse attached and then Mouse must have let go and hit her head on the tile.

I got up every two hours to check on her and give her dyne (like nutra cal but better).  Mattie found her at 7 am.  She came out crying.

So she is in a plastic bag in the freezer waiting burial in our garden.  I have made the hole in the box so big Chica can now walk out of it.  And my girls have gone to Vacation Bible school for the morning.  later we will have a nice service for her and bury her in our flower garden near Little Blue.   (died from a previous litter).

These are some of my favourite pix of her.  She had opened her eyes earlier on June 13th, the day the accident happened.  Her brown coat was getting lighter to be a red.  We will really miss her.
