Missing my chis

Well, there isn't much to say.  My chis are in Florida, at home, being cared for by a good friend.  I am stuck in Tennessee in the cold!  And I am missing them terribly.  Of course, they wouldn't be happy going potty outside here, but they would enjoy the cozy fire that we have every day.

Only a few more days left and I will be home.  I expect Pepsi will wet himself with excitement and I won't get any sleep.  They will want my constant attention.

Playing in our garden

Today it is a windy day and we are playing in the garden.  It is sunny and nice.  Got some cute pix and a video.

Snickie is getting a little bigger.  She is due at the end of January.  Can't wait to see the little critters

Pepsi kept finding sticks to chew on.  He was looking very fine today.  Had to give him a bath and shave is rear.  His fur is so long you can imagine how bad his rear is after a potty break  Well, now it is all nice and hopefully he won't have to have baths after potty breaks.

Play date at my house

We had a play date today and a visit.  Some new friends came over to meet Snicker Doodles and Nacho.  April is thinking about getting a chihuahua pup and is doing some research before she gets one.  Very cool!!  Both April  and her friend Callie are very nice.  I think April we love owning a chi.... just one warning.  Once you get a chi there is no turning back!!!  Then a few years later you will find you have many chis and are completely addicted!!:)

Funny thing is she says they look so much bigger on my website.  Maybe I need to post a warning sign... chis are smaller then they appear in the photos!!! I was just trying to get nice clear pix so the viewer can see what they are like.  I had no intention of making them look like elephants.  lol.

Pepsi adores Penny.  There is something between those two.  They just play and play and play. He doesn't take much interest in Nacho or Mia.

Now he is worn out and on my lap while I type.  Chica and Snickie are in a kennel all curled up and asleep.  They are so cute.

Nap time

Chica and Snickie taking a well deserved nap after a long walk.  Nothing like a walk to ensure good behaviour.  I am still working on Pepsi.  Tonight he walked several step before stopping.  Nothing we could do would get him moving again.  But he did very well.  Much improved.  I just hope he continues to improve as the weeks go by.

 Here is Katie asleep on her Dad.  As you can see he has Chica as well.  Then later, Icarus the cat joined them.  Poor Dad was covered with sleeping things!! 

 Last one is lucky old me... I didn't last long enough but I did catch a few Z's.  I like to sneak into bed and load it up with animals.  Most the time I have Chica and Icarus.  Sometimes I will have all the dogs and Icarus.  But this was a rare occasion where everyone joined in.  But alas, I had to get up and go for a walk.  Chica is sporting her Christmas dress from Kmart.  I could only find one in an XS.  Pepsi has a matching bandana!!

Finally I got some really nice pix of Pepsi Cola and that fabulous tail of his.  I thought it would never happen.  We went over to a friends house and played and played.  He had so much fun and got on with the other doggies very well.  I am very impressed with him.  Now he is all tuckered out and hopefully will take a nap.

So a while back I posted a to do list for Pepsi.  Things we need to work on.  Some were more urgent then others....

1. submissive peeing.  He is doing very well.  Sometimes he crouches down when I approach and then I back off.  I let him come to me and he hasn't peed in a while.  yeah!!

2.  Howling at 4.30am - this one is a killer.  He is doing better.  He now starts at 6am.  We generally yell shush of hush at him and his other cohorts in crime.  seems to work.  I go in when they aren't making noise so not to reward for such a nasty behaviour.

3.  Pooping outside and not in crate.  This is a difficult one.  He still poops in the crate but I put newspaper in with him.  So at least it isn't on the towel. When contained in the back room he is aiming for the newspaper more and more.  I have seen him pee outside and he is praised for that in a big way.

4.  Walking on the leash... not much progress has been made in this area.  I do put him on the leash when he is in the car and sometimes in the house.  We have tried walking him but he doesn't go far if at all.  But what he does do we praise.

Hopefully he will keep making strides forward and live will be more quiet.

Sick days and Chihuahuas

It seems that we are going through some sort of bug at our house.  Mattie had it last week and now Katie has it.  So as I was mopping floors and hoovering carpets, Katie lay on the sofa with dogs.  The dogs like cuddling up with the blanket and won't come off the sofa for nothing!!

I went online today and got Pepsi registered with the AKC.  I also purchased online pedigrees for him and Chica.  Posted them on my site.  They have some nice names.  Funny, they have more champs if you go back one more generation but the 4 generation pedigrees were good enough to get the idea across.

My daughter is sick and they are all happy to lay with her on the sofa.  I think she is happy to have something warm to cuddle with and stroke.  Not nice being sick.  Why do Chis make everything better??

I am still trying to get that allusive photo.. the one of Pepsi where he is standing tall and you can see all his long fur.  Just can't seem to get it.  Oh well.  I will keep on trying.

Alright, it is a silly name.  My children like it though.  All the dogs are getting adjusted to this new change.  They are doing pretty well.

Pepe is doing extremely well in his new home, though we are missing  him.  It was a hard choice to make but being a military family it needed to be made.  We can only have three dogs at the moment. 

Pepsi has some work to do...  finally the submissive peeing is under control.  Yeah!!  Now we paying full attention to the howling at 4.30am and on the hour there after.  Oh yes, this is a very bad habit that needs to end..... NOW!!!  And of course, every one has to join in....

Peeing and pooping in the garden, not in the crate at night is also high up on the list.  Not sure it is good to be bathed every day cause you stink to high heaven.

Last and not as important is walking on a leash.  Hate for him to miss out on all our adventures... chasing squirrels, sniffing, visiting other chis......

Play date at my house

Ana came over for lunch and she had a basket.  She opened it up and there were all Lucy's pups and Boogie.  Chica Immediately jumped into the basket and acted like their Mum.  She growled and the other dogs.  Ana and I had to keep reminding her that they weren't hers.  All the dogs had a lot of fun playing and getting into mischief.

I can't believe Moo Moo (silver spotted on white) and Panco (lc Tri black) aren't sold yet.  Pancho is pictured above.  They are both cuddly and adorable.  I am sure some lucky person will come along in due time and snatch them up cause they are quality dogs.  Ashame it can't be me.... naughty grin.  (www.chihuahuacrazy.com)

Pepe Le Pew

So the time is getting nearer for Pepe's departure.  If all goes well, Samantha will be heading this way today.  Which means she will come over tomorrow to see Pepe for the first time.  If it doesn't go through as planned it should all happen early next week.

I am excited to meet her because we have been chatting on the phone so much.  She is a really nice lady and will spoil him rotten... am I repeating myself?? lol.  Samantha asked me if I have had second thoughts.   First I said no, then I said yup.  Even last night I was wondering If I have made the right decision.  BUT I gave her my word that he was hers.  AND I'm not going to turn around and say I'm keeping him just because I may have the jitters.  That would not be right.

So it is raining and raining.  I want to give him a bath so he smells all sweet when she gets here.  But he will just get all wet and dirty again.  oh well.  The best laid plans .....

New Visitor

Pepe's brother is very cute.  He and Pepe are playing around and having a wonderful time.  He is a little nervous and likes to pee when  approached.  We are seeing if he will fit our family and if he can learn to control his peeps.....

We have a visitor

So, guess who came to visit us.  Well I think I will keep you in suspense for a little while.  Ok, I will tell you.  He is Pepe's brother.  He is a little shorter in height and length: and a little shy.  He is also a completely different colour.  I can't believe how long his hair is for a 7 month old!!!!

Pepe was all over him giving him kisses and love.  He really wants to play.  I wonder if they remember each other???
