Figgy's chihuahuas

I went to figgys chihuahuas today and had a wonderful time. Couldn't bring my doggies cause hers are all in heat. What a mess that would have been..... But I did bring back some cute garments for them to wear.

And they look adorable... Pepe has a belly band and my girls have lovely little vests. They even have a hook on them to attach your leash..... how cool is that???? Anyways, she sells them on her site and they come in all sizes and colours so check them out at www. figgyschihuahuas.com!

So as soon as I got home we had a little fashion show. My girls enjoyed dressing the doggies up. I won't tell you how the doggies felt about it.....

Chica the Chipmunk....

Poor Chica had her annual vet visit today. She got her rabies and other necessary shots. The vet looked her over and everything seemed great.

We got her home and about an hour and a half later KABOOM. Both cheeks were swollen. Mattie was the one who first noticed it. Chica was scratching and scratching.

I phoned the vet and gave her a 1/4 adult benedryl as directed. An hour passed, then two... so I took her in. You can imagine how happy she felt as we got out of the car!!!

No fever luckily and he gave her a shot of "Dex"? If at 10pm she is still swollen I need to give her more benedryl. I am hoping she will be better by then.

Sleepy heads

As I am scurrying around cleaning the house the doggies are enjoying their beds. It really is a dog's life around here.

For those of you who want multiple dogs... it is a lot of work. Cleaning up accidents, giving them fresh water and food during the day, exercising them, moping their room, poop pick up in the yard..... the jobs are never ending. On the up side you have little ones who adore you and want nothing more then cuddling on your lap

Pepe is doing really well on his leash. We have been walking around the block and every one is nice and tired at the end of it. This also helps relieve boredom which is always a good thing!!

Chica and Mia

We went for a walk in the rain this evening, all the way to Mia's house. Mattie held Chica and Snickie for me as I was holding the carrier and an umbrella. Pepe stayed home, out of the rain. We all got to Mia's house and Nacho came to the door to great us.

As soon as Chica saw Mia she went into Mother mode. She was barking and growling at Nacho and Snickie. She played with Mia and protected her. It was very interesting to behold.

And after we left, Chica was friendly again with Snickie. It was amazing. She turned from psycho Mama to friendly pal.

Petsmart and Pet place

So I went to Petsmart again armed with coupons and they did allow me to use one for the exercise pen. Yeah!! Those babies are expensive.

I have figured out an area for the doggies so they get more space but are contained in the back room. There are times when I don't want them running a muck through the whole house... My girls took every dog bed they could find and planted them in that area. It looks like "doggie Kingdom".

I think the area looks really nice but it still has a problem. The doggie door.. or should I say the cat door because the cats use it to go outside. Yes, they do not have a litter box. And I like it that way. So the cats must go through the area to get through the cat door. The cats do not appreciate being chased or licked by the dogs and they probably can't be bothered to jump over the fence!!

Right now I am letting them out the front door. At night I am kenneling the dogs and opening up the area so the cats go use the door....

Monica

Monica is doing very well at her new home. She is being spoiled rotten by her new owners, their children and their grand children. She gets to go to parks, swimming pools and has play dates. They walk her every day, play with her and give her nap times.

It is so nice to know that one of your babies has gone to a good home and is loved.

Petsmart

We went to Petsmart today looking for an exercise pen. Of course they are the most expensive and I'll have to buy online. Though I will give them a chance to go with the price I found online.

I did find a cat bed for $5 though. It is black and Chica can go inside of it. Even Mia came over and played with the new cat bed. It has two toys attached. Chica and Pepe are fighting over them. very cute.

Pepe Le Pew seems to like his new collar even though it is huge on him. Oh well. I did buy the smallest size and made some extra holes.

Home sweet Home

We are finally home.. yeah. I went over to Ana's, she wasn't in and I forgot my key to her house. So I came home, got my key and returned. Picked up my babies and came home.

Chica is in a funny mood. She is whining for her babies. Mia came over to play for a little and she was ok. After Mia left Chica went around whining again. Pepe Le Pew had so much fun running around chasing everyone. It seems he remembers me. He was wagging his tail and he even barked!!

Pepe Le Pew

While I'm in Tn, my dear friend and breeder Ana, is looking after my dogs. It is wonderful having a mentor and friend that can give you advice and help you when needed. What a blessing she was when Chica's first litter was born.

Anyhow, Pepe Le Pew is at her house. I was worried about this decision, not with Ana. I knew she would take great care of him. But with him. He seemed a little anxious when I got him. He had not been around people, or kids before. I thought he would "wig out". That Ana's active household would be too much for the little guy.

Well he is having a wonderful time. He has come out of his shell. He is being carried about by Ana's children, playing with all her dogs, playing on the grass, meeting horses... you name it.

Now I have a new problem... will Ana's children let him come home?? lol They have fallen in love with him. I am already getting told off for giving him the wrong name!!!! Apparently, I should have named him Taco.

thetinychi.com

Well, with Monica gone I have plenty of time on my hands. So I have decided to build a website. It isn't very fancy but it is free. I have decided to wait and see how it goes. If I need more options I can always purchase them.

Ana, as always helped me figure out some of the ins and outs of this web thing. She is quite good at this. But I also have a pro up my sleeve in case it gets too much for me. Then I can hand it all over to her and say "help me !!!!!"

Any way, check it out and let me know what you think? Maybe you can find your next beloved pet at my house!!

Monica

Today we drove to the airport. Today was the day Monie would meet her new Dad. She had all her bits and bobs. She was ready. I was not. It was bitter sweet for me. I am so happy she has a wonderful home, but a little sad because I got so attached to her.

11 July 2009

Snicker Doodles

I phoned Ana this am... about Monica. She also told me that Snicker Doodles is doing much better. Not coughing as much. More good news is that the other dogs seem to be ok as well. That is a relief. And Ana didn't take her to the vet. She was going to wait a day to see how Snickie was and she got a little better. So no big expensive either. yeah.

Monica

So Monica is keeping me up at night. She wakes up and wants attention. I stick my hand in the carrier and stroke her until she settles down. Sometimes she uses my fingers as a chew toy. this morning when I woke up she just lay there. I thought that was odd. She did soil the pee pad in the carrier and got it all over herself. I picked her up and she was so lethargic- Itook her to her food. Stood her next to it to eat and she could hardly stand up. Now I was really worried. She did eat and drink though. she actually ate a lot. We had no Karo syrup so I gave her some honey. I phoned Jen (chi breeder) and sought advice.

Monica has hypoglycemia. Something tiny chis get when they use up all their energy and don't get enough food in them. Just a drop in their sugar levels. What to do... give her karo syrup, keep her warm and keep an eye on her. Also, I am going to make sure she gets food during the night. I didn't think on that one. Never had a pup this small away from it's mum before.

Funny thing is I told her new owner to make sure she had food during the night... duh!

I also had to give her a bath.... she was very stinky!!!!

10 July 2009

Snicker Doodles

I am upset. Snicker Doodles went to the vet last Monday to get her baby teeth pulled. Think I've already mentioned it. Well she came home and then started coughing. I thought it had something to do with the extra salvia or blood in her mouth, or the anesthesia.... well she has kennel cough.

I phoned the vet and was told there is no way she could get it there because there is at least a 7 day incubation period... so it is my fault. Well, how can that be??? She hasn't been near any dogs at all in over a week and none of my other dogs are sick. So maybe the magic sick fairy gave it to her!!!

Now she will have to be seen by the Dr. He will prescribe antibiotics and then my other dogs may get sick and we have to do it all over again. The vet, of course, is making money of what his kennel caused in the first place. Can I scream now??

I'm in Tennessee and Ana is looking after my dogs.... so hers will probably get sick. So the vet can make money of hers having to be seen and getting the antibiotics. One of hers is pregnant as well!!

Well, Ana said she will wait and see how Snickie is doing. She does look better today. And she thinks maybe Chica's pups didn't catch it. One left the day she went in (Mia) and Monica is showing no symptoms and was nursing at the time giving her extra protection from Chica.

Monica

We have been traveling to see Tennessee to visit family for a couple of days. Driving with an overnight stop in Georgia. Monica has done very well. Sleeping in her bag and on laps. Some of the time she was very frisky. But no pee or poop. Hmm? Well, when we got to La Quinta Inn and Suites (love this place- very compfy beds!!!) I realized why not. She had done it on the pee pad in her bag. That's ok.

I didn't sleep well on the very comfortable bed though. Monica was in the bed in her bag. She whined most of the night and kept me up. So I am very tired.

She did poop on Mattie today. I thought it was funny and laughed. Dad said he knew she would do that when I handed her over to Mattie. So now they don't trust me anymore and won't take Monica. Oh well. More cuddles for me.

I arrived at the house and found a parcel. Her new owners bought her a collar with her name in diamonds and the cutest dress.... I think she is going to be spoiled rotten.

Packing and life without Mia

Well, Monica is sticking to Chica like glue. I guess they both miss Mia. Chica is over protective of her and they both growl at the other dogs when they are displeased. Quite the funny sight. They have their little spot in the kitchen and they spend most of their time there.

I hate packing. I need to pack for the dogs who are going to Ana's. Pepe Le Pew needs his food, and his albon and his this and his that. Then I need to get the supplies ready for the cats who are staying behind. Happily our kids packed their bags and I checked them. My packing to do still and packing for Monica.

Yes, Monica is coming with me. And she has a lot of luggage. It is time for her to start her travels to her new home. She has food, treats, paper work, bedding, a night time crate, a bag for the car (and restaurants) etc. I hope I don't forget anything.

Snicker Doodles is under the weather

Poor little snickie had two teeth pulled yesterday. When I picked her up I was told to only give her a little water and rest until the next day. Poor little thing just wanted to sleep in her crate. This morning she does seem better. But still wants to cuddle. I am glad we had the baby teeth pulled. She doesn't have much room in her mouth for her adult teeth, let alone extra babies. She will be much healthier now.

Oh, and I am up at the crack of dawn. It seems Pepe Le Pew has a lot of pep early in the AM. Lovely!

Jobs and dogs

So I have finally found a name I think is cute enough for our new boy... have you ever seen the cartoon with the cute little skunk who falls in love with a cat.... Pepe Le Pew.

Today was so busy... and it isn't even over yet. This morning Jesse came over and we went to the vet. The puppies got their shots etc. They weighed in at 1.4 lbs at 8 weeks. Snickie was left there for her tooth extraction. We came home gave Mia her first bath and cut her nails. Gave Pepe and Chica baths.... ate lunch. Went to Jesse's house to help her meet Nacho (her chi). Cut his nails. Went to Albertsons and the post office. Soon we are going to a Dr. apt then we will pick up Snickie.

Did I leave anything out??? I am so confused.

05 July 2009

A name for the boy?

Do you think Jar Jar Binks is a good name for him? I still do not no what to name the little fellow. I put up a cute video of him playing in the garden with Snickie. He jumps around like a little bunny. very cute.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbiDCkcAdkA

He did well last night. No squealing or barking. This morning I did find some diarrhea on the newspaper so I am giving him some albon(??). It is supposed to help with such things. I also got some plain yogurt and pumpkin puree to give him. I hope these mixed together will help his tummy.

Today he has had some play time with his girls. Chica just sort of stood there. Not sure what she was thinking as he jumped up and down in front of her. Snickie plays with him and chases him all around the back garden.

04 July 2009

Typhoon Lagoon and pups!!!

Today was a busy day. We checked out of the hotel early and headed for Typhoon Lagoon. Got there just after the gates opened and found a lovely shaded spot. Girls and Dad hit the wave pool and the slides. I hid in the shade and got wet once in a while to cool off. We also went on the lazy river. We headed to the car and got in, then it poured. After Lunch at the giant McDonalds we went to pick up our new pup. He is so cute in person.

He is in his own area. He has a sleeping area, food, water and newspaper. He can see the pups and Chica running around. I thought it would help him acclimate to be a little separated. Also, Chica won't defend her pups from him. Not like he'd hurt them, he is just a pup himself. Chica desperately wants to meet him... But she'll have to wait.

03 July 2009

Disney World Vacation

We went on a holiday to see the mouse for a week. Getting some down time away from the every day. It has rained and I miss the doggies. Luckily, for me I have some good friends that I can rely on. Jesse is watching Chica and her babies; the gerbils, cats, plants and mail. She will take Mia (was Jetta) home on Monday after her shots.

My good friend Ana has Snicker Doodles at her house. Snickie and Daisy are sisters and they love to play with eachother.

Tomorrow, on the way home, we will pick up our new boy. I still have no idea what to name him. Hopefully, we will find a good name that will fit him perfectly.
